Bitumen Plant
Bitumen plant is usually used as the abbreviation for bitumen mixing plant or bitumen production plant.
CONTENTS
Bitumen Mixing Plant
A bitumen mixing plant, also called asphalt mixing plant, is road surface paving material production equipment that is used to blend cold aggregate, liquid bitumen, and other admixture to form asphalt mix or blacktop, which is widely used for road construction.
Bitumen mixing plants are indispensable road building facilities, since most roads, motorways or footways, need to be coated with asphalt concrete to improve their usage experience, not to mention safety. Typical hot mix device consists of several major parts and accessories, including cold feeder, belt conveyor (collective belt conveyor and inclined belt conveyor), drying drum, burner, hot elevator, vibrating screen, temporary storage bins, weighing gauges (one for each storage bin that hold different size of aggregate particle), pug mill (namely mixer), bitumen tank, dust collector (water dust collector, gravity or cyclone dust collector, bag house dust filter), filler silo, control room.
There are many classification standards for pavement material manufacturing equipment. All of them can be divided into bitumen batching equipment and continuous asphalt mixing equipment depending on the production process. It can be categorized into stationary device and mobile device based on the mobility performance.
Bitumen Production Plant
Bitumen production plant, also called bitumen processing plant, is a kind of petrochemical equipment that is used to produce base bitumen through the distillation of crude oil. In this distillation process, gasoline and diesel are removed from the raw oil, with heavier bitumen left behind. The substance, known for its waterproofing and adhesive properties, is widely appliable to construction industry and chemical engineering industry, including road building.
Butumen-related Plants
Other than the two major comprehensions above, bitumen plant, as a term, refers to some relative equipment else in some cases, such as bitumen laying plant, bitumen decanting plant, bitumen emulsion plant, bitumen rubber plant.
Bitumen laying plant, another name for asphalt paver, is a type of road construction machine which is used for paving road pavement materials. Bitumen decanting machine is utilized to heat the solid bitumen packed in barrels and melt it into the liquid substance for bitumen mixing plants or other industral purposes. Bitumen emulsion plants are able to melt the unique substance and mix it with water to create emulsion, which is widely used in road construction application as a binder, surface dressing, priming, etc. Bitumen rubber plant is used to produce rubberized bitumen, a special pavement material consisting of approximately 75-80 percent base bitumen with about 20 percent crumb rubber made from scrap tires.
By the way, there is one point worthwhile to note, which is that the term bitumen should not often mistakenly used to describle asphalt. While some overlapping meaning seems to exist between them, there are indeed a huge difference. Bitumen is actually a kind of liquid binder able to holds asphalt together, and yet asphalt is essentially a kind of mixture, composited by heated aggragetes (gravel, sand) and bitumen in line with some predesigned ratio. In most occasions, both of them cannot be interchangable.
